Position OverviewThe Director of Teaching & Learning provides leadership for curriculum, instruction, and professional growth across Children’s House, Lower Elementary, and Upper Elementary programs. Working closely with teaching teams and administrative leadership, this role ensures alignment, coherence, and excellence in Montessori practice while honoring the developmental needs of each child.
Primary Responsibilities- Support teachers across ages 3–12 with curriculum alignment, instructional coaching, and Montessori best practices
- Observe classrooms regularly and provide feedback to support professional growth
- Collaborate with teaching teams to develop and maintain a Montessori scope and sequence with developmental benchmarks and exit goals
- Partner with teachers to design mission-aligned progress monitoring and student documentation systems
- Coordinate weekly faculty meetings focused on curriculum and student progress
- Support professional development planning, onboarding, and mentoring
- Assess classroom material needs and oversee purchasing within budget guidelines
- Develop family-friendly program descriptions and curriculum overviews
- Lead parent education sessions related to Montessori philosophy
- Support families through transitions, including matriculation to middle school
- Collaborate with local Montessori schools and professional networks
- Participate in administrative meetings and strategic planning
- AMS Montessori Certification
- Minimum of 6 years of teaching and/or educational leadership experience
- Strong understanding of Montessori pedagogy across early childhood and elementary
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Reflective, collaborative leadership style
