UC Blue Ash Instructional Design Mission
The UC Blue Ash Instructional Design team collaborates with instructors to empower them to design and develop engaging, accessible, and relevant learning experiences, meeting changing student needs.
Job Summary
As part of the UCBA Instructional Design team, the Instructional Technology/Accessibility Specialist(s) will work both collaboratively and independently to further the mission of the Instructional Design team, contributing to quality course design and accessibility initiatives. The student(s) will gain hands-on experience in creating accessible digital content, evaluating content accessibility, and remediating digital content for courses and websites using a variety of technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Instructional Design team on course design and accessibility projects to evaluate and revise documents and digital sites (Word, PowerPoint, PDF, Canvas, etc.) to ensure compatibility with assistive technologies and compliance with accessibility standards
- Support faculty and staff with captioning multimedia content, including submitting captioning requests and editing machine captions for audio and video content to meet accuracy requirements
- Research, write, and produce technical how-to guides and create and edit video tutorials on instructional technology topics
- Support UCBA faculty and staff during training sessions
- Provide Canvas support and troubleshooting
- Additional tasks: provide administrative support (data entry, creating spreadsheets or forms, etc.), complete special projects, and communicate efficiently on Teams and via email
- Must be currently enrolled at UC or will be enrolled in the next academic term.
- Must be at least a second-year student at UC.
- Minimum of 3.0 grade point average
- Demonstrate teamwork and a willingness to share knowledge and expertise to achieve common goals
- Strong communication skills
- Proofreading and editing skills
- Close attention to detail, with a focus on accuracy and quality of work
- Willingness to learn about new technologies
- Comfortable adapting to changing responsibilities, with a proactive approach to problem-solving
- Interest in course design and/or accessibility
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to plan projects and meet deadlines
- Excellent follow-through and ability to work on a project from conceptualization to closure (reliable and professional)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.) or Adobe Acrobat Pro
- Video and/or audio production and editing skills, including experience with Kaltura
- Knowledge of accessibility elements and best practices for documents or media
- Organizational skills, experience working with a variety of subject areas
- Experience creating training material and documentation
- Project management skills including coordination, scheduling, planning
- This is a part-time, in-person position working approximately 12 hours per week.
- The work will be performs on UC Blue Ash Campus in Muntz Hall.
- The position has the potential to continue beyond the Spring 2026 semester.
- The position pays $12 per hour.
- The majority of the work should be done between 8am-4pm Mon-Thurs with flexible timing around student's classes.
- The position will have a (shared) workspace on campus.
