About ECE Department
The ECE Department at UC is one of the largest departments in the College of Engineering and Applied Science. ECE currently has 29 tenured or tenure-track faculty (including 2 IEEE fellows and 7 NSF CAREER awardees) and 7 professor educators. The department is home to 980 undergraduate students, 180 master students, and 100 Ph.D. students. ECE's annual research funding exceeds $7 million.
Job Overview
The University of Cincinnati (UC) Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering (ECE) ((Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).) in the College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS) invites applications for several full-time tenured or tenure-track positions at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor levels with an intended start date of August 15, 2026. We seek candidates in the areas of electrical and computer engineering, such as, but not limited to:
- Computer architecture: domain specific architecture, architectures for next generation computing;
Operating Systems and computer networks; parallel and distributed systems; frontier hardware technologies. - Communication theory and systems:
Digital and wireless communications;
Signals and systems;
Signal processing; RF and Communications: RF ICs. - Cybersecurity:
Malware analysis;
Reverse engineering;
Network security;
Embedded systems security;
Hardware security and trust;
Security of cyber-physical systems;
Security-aware VLSI design and design automation. - Semiconductor manufacturing, devices, and circuits:
Analog and digital electronics (VLSI, ASIC, Integrated Systems);
Emerging computing systems. - Artificial Intelligence (AI):
Intelligent/humanoid robots, human-computer interaction, intelligent embedded systems.
ECE is dedicated to educational excellence and developing and sustaining premier research programs with national and international recognition. The chosen candidates will be expected to contribute (at both the graduate and undergraduate level) to the department's educational and mentoring mission of preparing students to become high-performing professionals in the workplace. The chosen candidates will also be expected to contribute to the advancement of research missions within the department and college.
In addition, the chosen candidates will be expected to further the strategic goals of the Department, the College, and the University via collegial collaboration and teamwork both within the ECE Department and with other CEAS departments, across the University, and with regional industries. The candidates will work with the other Faculty in the Department and the Department Head to reach the goals set by the upper administration, which include increasing the enrollment of students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and increasing the overall level of research funding in the department through collaborative efforts within the university and with other academic, industrial, and government laboratories.
Rank, salary, and startup funding will be commensurate with credentials.
Essential Functions
- Teaching graduate and undergraduate courses related to the candidate's area of expertise in one or more of the areas above in online and traditional classroom settings.
- Developing an externally funded research program in their field of expertise.
- Contributing to the advancement of research missions within the department and college by publishing research results in professional journals and refereed conference proceedings.
- Participating in service-related activities such as department and/or college committee memberships, working with student groups, and providing external professional service such as peer review.
- Advising graduate and undergraduate students.
