Meridian Micro School is seeking an Elementary Assistant Guide for the 2026–2027 school year, beginning September 2026, with some preparatory days in August.
This is a part-time position supporting our mixed-age elementary classroom in a relationship-centered, Montessori-based microschool environment. The Assistant Guide works closely with the Lead Guide to help maintain a prepared environment, support student learning, and carry the daily rhythm of the classroom, including regular outdoor time.
Essential Functions- Support the Lead Guide in preparing and maintaining the classroom environment
- Help manage the flow of the classroom and support children during work cycles
- Support children in resolving conflicts and navigating social interactions
- Serve as a role model for children in speech, tone, demeanor, and actions
- Assist with observation and basic documentation of student work and social development
- Help support classroom activity and transitions throughout the day
- Participate in outdoor programming daily in all seasons, including winter months
- Interest in Montessori philosophy and Meridian’s microschool model
- Comfort spending time outdoors and exploring our community campus
- Enjoy working with elementary-age children (approximately grades K–6)
- Strong work ethic and reliability
- Willingness to learn, receive mentorship, and grow professionally
- Solution-oriented and able to meet families where they are
- Ability to collaborate closely with a Lead Guide while also taking initiative when appropriate
Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States and able to pass a background check. CPR and First Aid certification must be completed before the first day of employment. Prior experience working with children is preferred. This role requires reliability, presence, and a willingness to participate fully in the daily life of the classroom, including outdoor learning in all seasons.
PositionDetails
This is a part-time position during the academic year (September–May), with some preparatory days in August. The typical schedule is Monday through Thursday from approximately 8:45 am to 2:30 pm, with occasional flexibility up to approximately 2:45 pm as needed. Hourly pay ranges from $15–$17 depending on experience. Meridian offers paid professional development and mentorship opportunities for qualified candidates.
