Job Overview

The School of Environment and Sustainability (SEaS) invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor to join a new "Blue"/Water and Sustainability initiative in the College of Arts and Sciences, whose Discovery in Action initiative embraces engaged and interdisciplinary research that includes public scholarship and preparation of students for impactful careers. This position is open to applicants who explore human, water, and economic dynamics in areas such as but not limited to river ecosystems, groundwater aquifers, coastal or open ocean systems, water quality, weather, flooding and disasters, fisheries and aquaculture, water transportation, or renewable energy, that may have broad relevance to conservation, resource management, sustainable development, or climate resilience.

Essential Functions
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate-level disciplinary and interdisciplinary courses in the School's Environmental Studies program in areas related to water-related systems and dynamics, such as conservation, resource management, sustainable development, economics, or climate resilience.
    Conduct scholarly research related to water and how it relates to the economy.
    Participate in professional service opportunities, such as SEaS faculty meetings or SEaS standing or ad hoc committees as well as other service activities such as serving as peer reviewer for professional journals and on other unit, college or university committees.
Minimum Requirements

A PhD in Environmental or Sustainability Studies or a closely related field is required prior to effective date of appointment.
