Job OverviewThe University of Cincinnati (UC) Department of Rehabilitation, Exercise, and Nutrition Sciences is searching for a full-time tenure-track faculty member who will contribute to the department’s research, teaching, and service missions. This is a 9-month appointment with rank commensurate with education and experience. The preferred start date is August 2026 but a later date is possible.
The Department of Rehabilitation, Exercise & Nutrition Sciences is one of the academic units in the College of Allied Health Sciences. Our department offers graduate degrees in Doctor of Physical Therapy, Doctor of Occupational Therapy, Master of Athletic Training, Master of Nutrition Sciences, and PhD in Health & Rehabilitation Sciences. Our undergraduate Health Sciences program offers the degree of BS in Health Science with an emphasis in the concentrations of Pre-PT, Pre-AT, Pre-OT, Pre-Med, Pre-PA, Pre-Pharm, and online programs in pre-OT and Health Sciences.
The department is housed in the new Health Sciences Building located on the UC Medical Campus.
This position is primarily responsible for advancing a personal research agenda, teaching in relevant content areas, and service to the Department of Rehabilitation, Exercise, and Nutrition Sciences and College of Allied Health Sciences. Research activity includes, but is not limited to, pursuit of funding, student mentorship, and dissemination of research findings.
Teaching and service responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, course development, primary instruction of didactic courses; participation in student recruitment, retention, and admissions activities; participation in program committee work including program evaluation, accreditation tasks, and other activities as assigned by Department Chair.
Teaching responsibilities will be primarily in the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program. While scholarship is central to this position, teaching and service activities are also required consistent with faculty evaluative criteria and the missions of the University, College, and Department.
- A doctoral degree (e.g. PhD, EdD, DPT)
- ABD candidates are welcome to apply but must have the degree completed prior to start date.
- Ohio Physical Therapy license (or Ohio eligible)
- Demonstration of teaching experience of at least two years at the college level or equivalent.
- An equivalent of at least 2 years of relevant full-time work-related experience
- Evidence of work toward establishing a defined line of research
- Recent peer-reviewed publications and scholarly productivity
- Record of or potential for future extramural grant funding
- Demonstrable plans for continued scholarly activity including the pursuit of external research funding
- Current knowledge and skill in the use of computer technology and educational learning management systems
- Strong interpersonal skills including communication, problem solving, conflict management, and follow-through
- Interest and ability to collaborate with an interdisciplinary team
- Must have obtained a Doctorate or terminal degree from a regionally accredited college or university of recognized standing in a field appropriate to the requirements of the position. For positions within Performing and Studio Arts or Nursing, an appropriate Master’s degree may replace the Doctoral requirement.
- Post professional doctoral degree (e.g. PhD, EdD)
- Evidence of an active research program as primary investigator
- Established research agenda with sustainable record of dissemination including an average of 1-2 peer reviewed publications per year and national presentations
- Evidence of previous research applications (internal or external), with a preference for funded external grants
- Post-doctoral research training (or similar formal post-degree research training e.g. fellowship)
- Clinical or teaching experience in pediatrics or geriatrics
