Position OverviewCincinnati Public Schools (CPS) is seeking dedicated Substitute Teachers to ensure the continuity of high-quality education in the absence of regular classroom teachers. In this role, you will implement lesson plans, manage classrooms effectively, and adapt instructional methods to meet the needs of a diverse student population. Substitute Teachers are pivotal in maintaining a safe and inclusive learning environment, fostering strong relationships with students and staff, and supporting CPS's commitment to equity and excellence in urban education.
This position requires collaboration with school personnel, proactive engagement with families, and ongoing professional development to uphold CPS's educational standards.
- Implement lesson plans provided by the regular classroom teacher to guide student learning and achieve curriculum goals.
- Adapt teaching methods to address the needs of students with diverse learning styles and backgrounds.
- Integrate technology and innovative instructional practices to enhance student engagement.
- Create and maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Supervise students consistently during the school day to ensure safety and adherence to school policies.
- Build professional, collaborative relationships with students, staff, and families.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school personnel, utilizing CPS tools and guidelines.
- Collaborate with school staff to support a positive and effective instructional environment.
- Demonstrate cultural competency and a commitment to equity in serving a diverse urban student population.
- Engage with families and community partners to enhance student learning experiences.
- Minimum of an associate degree or 48 college semester credit hours; a bachelor's degree, preferred. CPS welcomes candidates who hold an Ohio Temporary Non-Bachelor's Substitute License (valid through the 2024-25 school year).
- Experience working with and or leading children in diverse, multi-ethnic settings is preferred.
- Experience working with or around K-12 children and or families.
- Background Check:
Current background checks must be on file. CPS offers walk-in hours for processing background checks ($50 exact cash/credit card). - Licensure: A valid Ohio Substitute Teaching License is required. CPS supports candidates in obtaining the necessary licensure after the application and offer process.

- Application fee: $25.
Daily Pay Rate: $146.80 (non-benefits eligible).
