Job Overview

The University of Cincinnati (UC) Clermont College's Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) Department invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Sociology position to begin August 15, 2026. Tenure-track responsibilities include teaching 12 credit hours per semester, excluding summers, ongoing scholarship/research and service to the department, college, and/or university, and willingness to participate in Sociology area and departmental duties. This position is currently the only full-time Sociologist at UCCC, so the candidate must be broadly knowledgeable across sociology disciplines.

Essential

Functions
  • Teach undergraduate-level Sociology courses, mentoring and assessing student work.
  • Deliver courses in face-to-face, hybrid, and fully online formats.
  • Lead administrative work related to the Sociology area, such as scheduling and staffing of courses, working with others and sometimes across campuses to develop, coordinate, and/or assess curricula and courses.
  • Engage in scholarly research and professional development as well as service to the department, college, and/or university.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Qualifications Considered
  • Excellent college-level teaching for more than two (2) full-time years to different levels of undergraduate students.
  • Comfortable teaching courses in social inequality, deviance, and intercultural interaction.
  • Interest in health/medicine, inequality, or deviance.
  • Substantial scholarship and professional development track record and satisfactory service.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interaction skills.
  • Strong team‑player ability, engagement with current teaching and learning technologies, and experience in developing, coordinating, and assessing curricula and courses.
