Join Cincinnati Public Schools as a certified classroom teacher for grades 9‑12. This limited contract position of 191 days offers competitive salary per the CFT agreement.
Role SummaryProvide educational opportunities where students may fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and psychological growth in a standard classroom or Montessori setting, and deliver instruction that promotes academic success in accordance with Cincinnati Public Schools standards.
Essential Functions / Skills- Plan for and guide the learning process to help students achieve state standards.
- Interact verbally and physically with students as needed.
- Maintain a safe, conducive classroom atmosphere.
- Establish professional relationships with all assigned students.
- Communicate with parents/guardians using district tools such as Power School and Cognos.
- Maintain professional demeanor with students, parents, coworkers, and administration.
- Preferred work experience with children in a multi‑ethnic setting.
- Commit to helping urban students succeed, emphasizing diverse socioeconomic, racial, and ethnic backgrounds.
- Willingly invest time to meet the district’s challenges, objectives, and mission.
- Be professional, compassionate, empathetic, and dedicated to human growth and development.
- Oversee and maintain a positive academic atmosphere conducive to learning and safety.
- Implement instructional programs and create an engaging learning environment.
- Select and modify instructional resources to meet the needs of students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs.
- Assist in assessing changing curricular needs and propose improvement plans.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance.
- Use technology to enhance student learning.
- Create a positive environment that encourages active engagement.
- Communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with students, parents, and other professionals regularly.
- Collaborate with peers to improve the instructional environment.
- Ensure continuous and appropriate student growth and achievement for groups and subjects.
- Accept responsibility for meeting performance goals.
- Supervise students at all times during the school day.
- Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits, such as meeting deadlines and honoring schedules.
- Involve parents, corporations, and the community in youth education.
- Cooperate with other teachers and administrators to develop evaluation methods in line with district guidelines.
- Maintain licensure and professional competence through in‑service education and self‑selected growth activities.
- Encourage independent thinking and expression of original ideas.
- Communicate in a second language when applicable.
Education:
Minimum Bachelor’s degree or higher in secondary or elementary education from an accredited college or university.
Licensure:
Ohio Teacher license appropriate for subject(s) and grade levels taught.
191 days Limited Contract.
Salary:
Certificated Classroom Teacher per CFT Cincinnati Federation of Teachers (CFT) agreement.
