Adjunct Instructor, Geography and GIS, Arts and Sciences

The Department of Geography & GIS in the College of Arts & Sciences is seeking qualified individuals for term adjunct instructor positions. On a part‑time, limited basis, the Adjunct Faculty member's primary academic functions include teaching, discovering, creating, and reporting knowledge to students.

• Provide high‑quality education by conducting and teaching assigned undergraduate and/or graduate‑level courses and seminars in geography, geographic information sciences, and/or related courses offered through the department.
• Evaluate student coursework; may also serve as an academic adviser for students.
• Respond in a timely manner to all university‑related communications.
• Attend at least one in‑person scheduled meeting on campus each semester and complete at least one in‑person training or professional development session offered through the university.

• Academic degree in an appropriate discipline and prior teaching experience.

• Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to present complex material to students unfamiliar with the subject.
• Ability to work and collaborate with individuals from a variety of professional and educational backgrounds.

• Professional experience working with GIS, remote sensing, and/or cartography.
• Working knowledge of a programming language related to GIS.

• Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
