Job OverviewThe University of Cincinnati School of Social Work is searching for a full‑time faculty member to coordinate a robust field education program for the School’s BSW Distance Learning (BSW‑DL) program. This is a 12‑month Educator position with an ideal start date in Fall 2026. Rank (Assistant or Associate professor) is commensurate with experience.
Essential Functions- Identification, assessment, and selection of field placement sites in collaboration with BSW‑DL students, faculty, and staff.
- Orientation of students to policies and practices related to field education in the School of Social Work. Collaboration with field placement sites to recruit, train, and coordinate the activities of field instructors and field liaisons.
- Teaching responsibilities include, but are not limited to, field seminars that accompany student field placements, as well as training and orientation sessions for field students, instructors, and liaisons.
- Collaboration with School field education faculty to ensure consistent applications of policies and procedures across field programs.
- Service responsibilities may include participation in recruitment, retention, admissions activities, program committee work, and other tasks as assigned by the School’s Director, BSW‑DL Program Director, or Director of Field Education.
- Master of Social Work degree
- Licensed Social Worker (LSW)
- Five years post‑MSW practice experience as a professional social worker
- Knowledge and skill in the use of computer technology, educational learning management systems, and experience in course development
- Three years of successful teaching and field coordination experience in social work
- Experience in working with community organizations, especially in recruiting and placing students; strong organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal skills, including communication, problem solving, counseling, conflict management, and follow‑through
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to take direction and coordinate work with colleagues, peers, and community partners
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching and research evidenced by a strong publication record in peer‑reviewed journals. Candidates for a tenured appointment should demonstrate intellectual leadership and impact on the field and potential significant contributions to the department, University of Cincinnati, and wider scholarly community.
- Demonstrate evidence of effective teaching ability, commitment to student success, and service to the profession.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to present complex material to students unfamiliar with a subject.
- Must have outstanding writing skills to present research in written format.
- Ability to work and collaborate with individuals from a variety of backgrounds.
