Role Mission
The IDEA Interventionist Co-Teacher intervenes with small groups of students who have identified gaps of 2 or more years in Reading and/or Math with the goal of closing that gap by 2 years in just one school year. The Interventionist Co-Teacher supports IDEA’s AP for All initiative and uses universal screening, Direct Instruction intervention, frequent progress monitoring, and increasingly intensive, research-based instruction to help students who continue to have difficulty.
This is a Title I Part A grant-funded position and funding may be extended. A grant-funded position has no guarantee of ongoing employment. All duties and responsibilities tied to this position are allowable and allocable to the grant.
What We OfferCompensation:
- Compensation for this role is set at an hourly rate ranging between $17.15 (0 years of experience) and $19.25
- Hourly co-teachers’ earnings are paid out over a 12-month period

CompetenciesQualifications:
- High level of content proficiency in Math and/or English Language Arts as evidenced by field of study or work experience
- Education:
At least 48 college hours required or a bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution - Experience:
1+ year of experience working with children in a classroom or volunteer setting
Knowledge and
Skills:
- Knowledge of the core academic subject assigned and ability to pass an IDEA content assessment
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to instruct students and manage student behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to adjust and adapt to a multitude of situations in the school environment
Responsibilities:
- Teach Critical Student Intervention (CSI) small groups for students at risk in reading and/or math, including students in general education, 504, Response to Intervention, Special Education, and English Language Learners
- Work closely with general education teachers to coordinate the support provided to students needing intervention
- Implement state learning standards and IDEA curricula and assessments to meet ambitious academic expectations
- Learn, master, and deliver relevant content and grade-level curriculum, core content objectives, and texts
- Submit weekly lesson plans two weeks in advance for feedback
- Use formal and informal assessments to track each student’s progress and learning needs, adjust lesson plans, and update gradebook weekly
- Communicate students’ progress with students and families on a weekly basis
- Facilitate effectively using technology as a communication and educational tool
- Implement a clear and consistent behavior management system aligned to campus initiatives
- Contribute to shaping a school-wide culture that fosters productive learning
- Build cooperative relationships with students and families based on trust and respect
- Host tutoring sessions as needed to meet students’ needs
- Participate in weekly manager check-ins, grade-level meetings, before/after-school duties, and school-wide functions
- Engage in summer and year-long district, school, and personal development
- Minimum of 40+ hours spent at school per week
