Job Overview:
The Physical Therapy and Health Sciences Program at the University of Cincinnati, in the Department of Rehabilitation, Exercise and Nutrition Sciences, is seeking a full-time faculty educator to contribute to teaching, service, and research. This is a 12-month Educator position with rank commensurate with education and experience. The preferred start date is January 2026 but could be flexible.

The Department of Rehabilitation, Exercise & Nutrition Sciences is part of the College of Allied Health Sciences. Programs include Doctor of Physical Therapy, Doctor of Occupational Therapy, Master of Athletic Training, Master of Nutrition Sciences, and undergraduate Health Sciences with concentrations in Pre-PT, Pre-AT, Pre-OT, Pre-Med, Pre-PA, Pre-Pharm, and online completers in pre-OT and Health Sciences. The department is housed in the Health Sciences Building on the UC Medical Campus.

Essential

Functions
  • Teach and provide service to the Department of Rehabilitation, Exercise, and Nutrition Sciences (RENS) and College of Allied Health Sciences (CAHS).
  • Primary teaching responsibilities include courses in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program and the undergraduate Health Sciences program as assigned by the Program Director or Department Chair.
  • Engage in course instruction, course development, student recruitment, retention, and admissions activities; participate in program committee work, program evaluation, and accreditation tasks; perform other duties as assigned by the Department Chair or Program Director.
  • Position requirements align with faculty evaluative criteria and the missions of the University, College, and Department.
Minimum Requirements
  • Doctoral degree (e.g., DPT, PhD, EdD)
  • Ohio Physical Therapy license (or Ohio eligibility)
  • Clinical experience in acute/medical settings
  • Experience teaching physical therapy courses in acute/medical settings
  • Ability and interest to teach interprofessional education
  • Experience working in interprofessional settings
  • Demonstrated college-level teaching
  • Equivalent of more than two (2) years of relevant full-time work experience
  • Current knowledge and skill in computer technology and learning management systems
  • Strong interpersonal skills including communication, problem solving, conflict management, and follow-through
  • Interest and ability to collaborate with an interdisciplinary team
Additional Qualifications Considered
  • Earned non-clinical terminal degree (e.g., PhD, EdD)
  • Experience in an academic student physical therapy clinic (e.g., pro bono)
  • Evidence of scholarship including presentations and publications
  • Evidence of service at state or national level
  • Ability to teach undergraduate pharmacology and pathophysiology
  • Four (4) or more years of relevant full-time work experience
  • Two (2) years of full-time college-level teaching experience
  • Experience mentoring student projects
