Job OverviewThe School of Social Work invites applications for a 9‑month faculty position at the rank of assistant professor for fall 2025. The faculty member will contribute to the department’s teaching, research, and service missions.
Essential FunctionsThe primary responsibilities include conducting research, teaching (in person and online) in relevant content areas, and providing service to the School of Social Work, College of Allied Health, and UC. Candidates with content and research expertise in substance use, children and youth, and/or health care practice are invited to apply. Research activity includes, but is not limited to, pursuit of funding, student mentorship, and dissemination of findings.
Experience with innovative academic delivery systems, including online instructional technology, is necessary.
- Master’s in social work and PhD in Social Work or related field from an accredited institution
- Minimum of two (2) years teaching experience online and in person
- Minimum of two (2) years post‑MSW practice experience and prior scholarly works published or presented
- Current knowledge and skill in the use of computer technology and educational learning management systems
- Strong organizational skills; strong interpersonal skills including communication, problem solving, conflict management, and follow‑through
- Ability to work independently
- Interest and ability to collaborate with an interdisciplinary team and assist with tasks assigned by the Department Chair
- Research expertise in substance use, mental health and/or healthcare practice
- Able to teach clinical courses such as Assessment and Diagnosis
- Licensed at the highest level in the state residing
- Active in professional activities at local, state, and/or national levels
- Prior grant funding experience
- Prior employment and/or collaborations with institutions such as medical centers, children’s hospitals and veteran’s centers
- Cover letter describing qualifications and interest in the position

- Statement of teaching philosophy
- A list of at least three (3) professional references with contact information
- Teaching evaluations will be requested if the candidate is invited to campus
