Position: PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT - DR. MORRIS

Position Summary

A Physician Assistant employed by Beacon Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine assists in the medical and surgical care of patients in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. The PA reports directly to an attending physician and participates in all aspects of patient care as indicated by the responsibilities below.

Responsibilities
  • Attend outpatient clinics, conduct initial evaluation and provide longitudinal care.
  • Obtain detailed medical history and perform comprehensive physical examination.
  • Order and review appropriate diagnostic tests including radiographs, CT scans, MRI, EMG, and DEXA scans.
  • Conduct procedures under the direction of an attending physician, including management of closed fractures, aspiration/injection of joints, and joint injection.
  • Develop and implement plan of care with attending supervision and complete documentation in a timely fashion.
  • Provide pre‑ and post‑operative patient education and respond to telephone inquiries.
  • Communicate with referring physicians, athletic training, and physical therapy staff regarding patient care.
  • Provide follow‑up and health maintenance care, including medication adjustment per established protocols.
  • Prescribe medications as directed by the attending physician and organize task assignment to other healthcare team members.
  • Prepare patients for surgery, assist in the operating room, perform surgical exposure, layer closure, and application of dressings.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of a CAAHEP‑approved Physician Assistant Training program.
  • Certified by the NCCPA or eligible to sit for the exam.
  • Licensed or eligible for licensing as a Physician Assistant in the State of Ohio and other appropriate states.
  • Maintains CME hours for recertification (50 hrs CME Category I and 50 hrs CME Category II) every two years and successful completion of the recertification examination every six years.
