Job SummaryThe Disguise Programmer supports the development and execution of immersive visual content that enhances the weekend experience at the church. Working under the guidance of the Wonder wall Executive Producer and in close collaboration with Realtime Content Designers and the broader Experience Team, this role is central to delivering seamless, high‑quality video playback and real‑time interactive content on a large LED volume and across AR/XR initiatives.
This highly technical and creative role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced, innovative ministry environment. The Disguise Programmer will play a key role in building the future of storytelling in the church.
Key Responsibilities Programming & Operation- Program, configure, and operate Disguise media servers for asset reviews, previews, rehearsals, weekend services, and special events.
- Build and validate timelines and content for clean handoff to the Disguise Media Server Operator.
- Import, organize, and optimize video content within the Disguise workflow.
- Ensure high‑quality playback across LED volumes, projection mapping, and immersive environments.
- Collaborate closely with creative teams and Realtime Content Designers to accurately implement visual designs.
- Support AR/XR and real‑time content projects with precision and creativity.
- Interpret technical drawings, creative briefs, and system documentation to execute production‑ready solutions.
- Integrate media servers with lighting, sound, automation, and show control systems using SMPTE timecode, OSC, MIDI, Art‑Net/sACN, and related protocols.
- Maintain and update system configurations to ensure reliability and consistency.
- Manage file organization and version control on NAS systems using Perforce.
- Provide on‑site and remote technical support for productions utilizing Disguise systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during setup, rehearsals, and live productions.
- Stay current with Disguise software updates, hardware advancements, and industry best practices.
- 5+ years of experience as a Disguise Programmer in live events, theatre, concerts, broadcast, installations, or themed entertainment.
- Proficiency with Disguise Designer software and Disguise hardware.
- Experience with Perforce or similar version control systems.
- Strong understanding of:
- Projection mapping
- LED wall systems
- IP networking and media protocols (Dante, SMPTE timecode, OSC, Art‑Net/sACN)
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and composure under pressure.
- Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Self‑motivated with the ability to work both independently and within a team.
- Experience with real‑time rendering engines (Notch, Unreal Engine, Touch Designer).
- Familiarity with lighting consoles and show control systems (e.g., Grand
MA, ETC). - Knowledge of 3D workflows (Blender, Cinema 4D, Maya).
- Working understanding of audio/video signal flow and production hardware.
- Ability to walk up to 5 miles during work activities.
- Frequent standing, climbing, lifting, pulling, pushing, carrying, reaching, stooping, and crouching.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Flexible schedule required, including weekdays, weekends, and high‑impact seasonal events.
- Participation in “All Hands on Deck” events (e.g., Holy Week/Easter, Super Bowl services, Christmas).
- Travel required as needed to support multi‑site and special productions.
