About the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM)
At CCM Musical Theatre we cultivate an environment of healthy, dynamic and innovative training, fostering creative growth for our students, faculty and community collaborators alike. The CCM Musical Theatre was the first program of its kind in the US, and was used by the National Association of Schools of Theatre in formulating the guidelines for the accreditation of Musical Theatre programs nationwide.
The program continues to evolve to meet the challenges of our ever-changing industry. The successful candidate will serve as an integral member of the Musical Theatre Department, combining high-level instruction, directing and choreographing for departmental productions and special projects, mentorship of students, and thought leadership towards the advancement of pedagogy in accordance with the department's artistic and academic mission. The ideal candidate will possess a strong professional background in directing and choregraphing musical theatre and expertise in teaching dance styles, including classical, jazz, contemporary and other developing movement forms shaping the industry.
Skill in teaching tap is preferred but not required. Candidates should have experience in higher education and/or equivalent professional practice, with demonstrated ability to contribute unique perspectives and interdisciplinary approaches to dance education.

Job Overview
The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM), a nationally prominent comprehensive college for the performing and media arts, seeks an experienced and innovative musical theatre director, choreographer, and teacher of musical theatre dance for a full-time tenure-track appointment, intended to begin August 15, 2026. Initial appointment is three (3) years, after which the faculty member is eligible for reappointment.
Essential Functions
- Serve as teacher-in-residence for musical theatre dance.
- Teach undergraduate classes in core musical theatre dance styles.
- Develop and create curriculum in musical theatre dance.
- Direct and choreograph departmental productions and special events, ensuring high artistic standards and an interdisciplinary approach to dance that amplifies storytelling.
- Serve as a faculty advisor, mentoring students in their course trajectory and career preparation.
- Adjudicate departmental performance exams.
- Collaborate on season planning and other related projects as assigned by the chair of Musical Theatre.
- Provide artistic leadership and contribute to the long-term vision of the dance department in Musical Theatre and the department at large.
