Traveling Site Safety Specialist (Independence Excavating)

We’re looking for a safety specialist who will travel 100% of the time to complete inspections, drills, trainings, and create safety plans. This position reports to the Safety Manager.
Responsibilities- Completing in‑house site inspections, fire drills, and training as required.
- Maintaining and auditing all safety‑related paperwork required by the project owner and coordinating submissions from subcontractors.
- Performing post‑incident reports for any safety‑related incidents on the project.
- Developing, implementing, and enforcing site‑specific health and safety plans.
- Assisting in coordinating industrial hygiene compliance on job sites.
- Conducting safety and compliance inspections on projects, shops, yards, and offices.
- Assisting in monitoring safety programs, including inspections, investigations, and training; knowledgeable of current NFPA and OSHA standards.
- Handling basic administrative tasks including organization of job and employee files and assembling training materials.
- Assisting the Safety Manager with external inspections and following up on corrective actions.
- Ensuring company vehicles and equipment are inspected, insured, and equipped with emergency kits.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma; additional schooling (AS or BS) in safety coursework or equivalent experience required.
- OSHA 30 required; OSHA 40 preferred.
- 4 years’ experience in construction safety or a managerial role requiring safety oversight.
- Energetic, continuous learner of construction and safety practices.
- Dedicated to safety training on own time.
- Passionate about keeping workers safe and eager to work in all weather conditions.
- Knowledgeable in local, state, and federal regulatory compliance (OSHA, EPA, NFPA, ICC, etc.).
- Competent with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Strong communication with field workers and managers.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergencies.
- Must obtain and renew all safety and environmental certifications as required.
- Previous demolition experience preferred.
- Clear written communication skills.
- Bilingual preferred.
- Willing to travel out of town 100% of the time; company vehicle will be provided.
