Minimum Qualifications
  • Any combination of training and work experience that indicates possession of skills, knowledge, and abilities listed below.
  • Must possess a High School Diploma from an accredited school with demonstrated ability in computer skills, workflow management, and the ability to work with little direct supervision.
  • College degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Job Duties (Summary)

Processes decisions, orders, 75N orders, scheduling orders, healthcare orders, agreed entries, and all related paperwork from assigned magistrates, including matters from the domestic violence docket. Processes domestic violence civil protection order documentation and forwards required materials to the Sheriff’s Office to ensure proper service. Accurately schedules hearings in accordance with magistrate orders and coordinates court parties for phone and video conferences.

Scans documents and distributes copies to court parties via email as appropriate to ensure timely communication and case processing. Coordinates interpreter services for hearings and court proceedings. Maintains and updates CMS to reflect all case activity, including case tracking, running records, result codes, support order information, and court party information. Forwards all new and modified case information to the CSEA CE unit to ensure the creation and modification of SETS support accounts.

Runs statistical reports to verify data accuracy and ensure timely case completion. Monitors and processes the daily tickler to track and ensure the timely issuance of magistrates’ orders and decisions. Answers inquiries from litigants and attorneys, both in person and telephonically. Secures exhibits and exhibit lists, reviews them for completeness, and forwards them to the file room for entry into the exhibit tracking system.

Processes transcript requests in accordance with Court procedures. Scans, organizes, and purges paper files pursuant to records retention guidelines, and properly shreds confidential and sensitive documents to maintain security and compliance. Gathers and compiles requested information and documentation for submission to the Court of Appeals when necessary.

Other Duties and Responsibilities 10 – 20%

Performs work duties of other staff as workload dictates or as directed. On a backup basis, schedules interpreters and executes Family Law Clinic responsibilities. Attend training as directed. Assists other departments when necessary to maintain the standards and integrity of the Court. Any other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills (may be developed after employment)

Knowledge of applicable procedures and practices of the Court of Domestic Relations, including familiarity with the Local Rules of Practice, the Court’s personnel policies, and proper courtroom etiquette. Basic office and computer equipment skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and Zoom Video Communications.

Ability to communicate with attorneys, the general public, employees, and Court officials in an effective and courteous manner. Work under pressure and maintain composure in dealing with potentially irate and hostile customers. Work independently while prioritizing essential tasks. Accept constructive criticism and direction. Be professional at all times and work cooperatively with all other departments within the Court and persons from other courts, agencies, and providers.

Maintain regular attendance, proper dress, and a positive attitude. Treat litigants and counsel with respect and dignity. Maintain courteous phone etiquette.

Skill in communicating with staff and others, both orally and in written form. Operating basic office equipment, including a Windows-based computer system. Completing tasks timely and free from excessive or recurring mistakes. Creating and maintaining an organized workflow process in accordance with Court guidelines.
