Job Summary:

The Legal & Claims Administrator provides administrative and organizational support for DMG’s insurance claims process and the Legal Department overall. This role is responsible for coordinating claim intake, maintaining accurate claim files, data and documentation, tracking deadlines, and supporting internal reporting. The position works closely with the Sr. Corporate Counsel, Paralegal, Legal Operations Professionals, internal teams, and external claims partners. You will play a key role in managing the company’s self‑insured retention program and fostering a proactive risk management culture.

What You’ll Do:
  • Oversee the handling of third‑party claims by DMG staff and external adjusters, ensuring that all claims are being managed in accordance with DMG’s policies and procedures.
  • Investigate and report claims to DMG’s third‑party claims administrator.
  • Provide direction to DMG’s external third‑party adjusters and provide feedback, acting as a liaison between DMG and its adjusters.
  • Maintain organized electronic claim files, correspondence, and supporting documentation.
  • Investigate, and resolve low exposure claims (i.e., under $1,000) in‑house with minimal oversight.
  • Assist and advise on all tender issues as requested by Sedgwick adjusters.
  • Audit and improve loss run data provided by DMG’s third‑party claims administrator on a weekly basis.
  • Communicate professionally with claimants, customer representatives, and other DMG departments.
  • Educate and support other DMG departments that interact with and have a stake in third‑party claims. You may also be asked to educate DMG departments on service provider disputes that could result in litigation.
  • Assist and support DMG’s paralegal with documents for discovery requests, depositions, and subpoenas as requested.
  • Assist and support DMG’s Legal Operations Professional with departmental initiatives, administrative support, contract filing, and data management.
  • Attend claim reviews and other meetings to provide context for claims and updates on internal SLA compliance.
  • Prepare and provide timely and detailed claims reporting to the Senior Corporate Counsel.
  • Handle special projects as needed, including providing and supporting data and other relevant information for budget reviews and forecasts.
  • Analyze and continuously improve upon current claims handling procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
What You Need:
  • 1+ year of claims handling experience or relevant transferable experience.
  • Understanding and mastery of DMG’s internal systems, including DMG Pro.
  • Ability to handle large volume of files.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with Jira, Zendesk or similar work management tools.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage privileged and confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Capacity to manage numerous files concurrently and with minimal oversight.
  • Ability to manage the stress of a fast-paced environment.
  • Problem‑solving skills and the ability to investigate and organize complex fact patterns.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
