Assistant Controller

Overview

One of our clients with a HQ in Cincinnati but a global presence is looking to add to their A&F leadership team. This role is open due to company growth and succession planning. The ideal candidate will be able to step in and tackle the basics from the start while continuing to expand responsibilities over time.

Annual Bonus

• Lead Financial Close Process
  :
  Prepare consolidated financial statements and manage month-end close activities including journal entries, account analyses, and reconciliations.
• Manage Accounting Operations
  :
  Oversee accounting functions such as consolidation, leasing, fixed assets, foreign currency translation, and share-based compensation.
• Team Leadership
  :
  Supervise and develop a team of 4–5+ senior and staff accountants, ensuring timely and accurate completion of tasks.
• Audit & Tax Coordination
  :
  Manage external audits and support tax compliance, including income tax provisions and indirect tax reporting.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration
  :
  Partner with FP&A and other departments to analyze variances, support forecasting, and communicate financial insights to non-finance teams.
• Process Improvement
  :
  Evaluate and enhance internal controls and accounting processes, including ERP system implementations and training.
• Technical Accounting Research
  :
  Conduct research and prepare memoranda on complex accounting issues.

• Education & Experience
  :
  Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (or equivalent) with 5–10+ years of relevant experience; 1–3 years of people management.
• Technical Skills
  :
  Strong data and financial analysis capabilities; familiarity with SOX compliance and public reporting requirements.
• Certifications & Systems
  : CPA preferred; experience with Oracle Fusion or Microsoft Dynamics is a plus.
• Industry Background
  :
  Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Soft Skills
  :
  Effective communication, problem-solving abilities, and willingness to travel up to 10%.
