To ensure the safety and security of students, staff, and visitors at Samuel Clemens High School and Byron P. Steele II High School by monitoring and securing campus access points, assisting visitors, and enforcing district safety and security procedures. This position helps maintain a safe and orderly campus environment through active supervision, visitor screening, surveillance monitoring, and prompt reporting or response to safety concerns or incidents.
QualificationsEducation/Certification
- High School Diploma or GED
- Clear and valid Texas driver's license
- Completion of district-provided safety and security training upon hire
- Must pass a pre-employment physical examination
- Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to maintain professionalism, situational awareness, and a calm demeanor under pressure
- Ability to observe, assess, and accurately report incidents or concerns
- Ability to monitor security systems and write clear, detailed reports
- Ability to walk or stand for extended periods and perform duties in various weather conditions
- Supervise and secure student/staff entrances during arrival, dismissal, and school hours
- Greet and assist students, staff, and visitors entering through designated access points
- Assist individuals through metal detectors and conduct bag checks as needed
- Enforce district safety and security procedures and guidelines
- Monitor surveillance equipment for suspicious activity or potential safety issues
- Conduct routine security patrols and preventative maintenance checks across campus grounds and facilities
- Report safety incidents in accordance with SCUCISD protocols
- Maintain detailed daily activity logs and incident reports
- Communicate professionally with students, staff, visitors, and law enforcement when necessary
- Assist with crowd and traffic control during arrival, dismissal, and special events
- Participate in safety drills, security training, and emergency preparedness exercises
- Provide helpful and respectful service while ensuring compliance with safety expectations
- Promote a safe, welcoming, and secure school environment
- Maintain a professional, approachable presence while upholding safety standards
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency response procedures
- Maintain confidentiality of student and staff information
- Attend required training and maintain readiness for emergency response
