Overview

Lead Window Dispatcher

Transdev in San Diego - Chula Vista is hiring a Lead Window Dispatcher. The Lead Window Dispatcher coordinates and disseminates information to Window Dispatchers, Coach Operators, Supervisors and other staff involved in helping to provide on-time service of coaches on routes. This position is based in San Diego, CA in support of the MTS Contract.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversees all window dispatchers (train, assist, and coach)
  • Delegate projects, assignments, and special projects
  • Maintain a good working relation with the Client
  • Demonstrates and promotes a “Safety First” culture at the location
  • Cover as needed when Scheduler is off, on vacation, or sick
  • Cover Dispatch window as needed when window dispatcher calls off, vacation, or sick
  • Ensure scheduling compliance for all drivers to ensure proper route coverage; adjust schedules and assign work to achieve compliance
  • Ensure window dispatchers and operators are fit for duty; maintain ability to remove an operator from schedule if not fit for duty
  • Observe operator pre- and post-trip operating procedures; effectively recommend discipline for non-compliance
  • Coordinate with Maintenance Manager and technicians regarding breakdowns and operator concerns about the fleet; effectively recommend re-training, discipline, and non-retention where appropriate
  • Investigate customer complaints related to operator performance and safety; effectively recommend re-training or discipline based on investigation results
Qualifications
  • Must have a high school diploma or its equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the transportation industry
  • 2-3 years supervisory experience; ability to lead, train, supervise and motivate employees
  • Ability to secure a Class "B" CDL with a "P" endorsement
  • Must be able to pass a DOT physical and drug screen
  • Ability to work various hours/shifts and split days off
  • Knowledge of and ability to use personnel computers and related software
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, assign, and supervise the work of subordinate employees
  • Ability to identify and understand problems and determine appropriate solutions
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Ability to maintain complex records and prepare reports
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage customer relationships and provide strong customer service in a fast-paced team environment
  • Proven organization skills and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
  • Union experience helpful
