Job Overview

Our Ingersoll Rand’s Compression Systems and Services Customer Center is hiring a General Line Account Manager to join their team. The role involves driving Customer Center equipment sales and service activity for a specific territory, traveling within a defined geographic area, quoting, prospecting, and developing relationships to achieve revenue targets, maximize profits, increase market share, and maintain customer loyalty.

Responsibilities
  • Generate revenue by selling equipment, service contracts, and service offerings to direct end users and partners within a defined customer base. Develop existing accounts, secure new accounts, and provide compressed air solutions to fulfill industrial customer needs.
  • Develop people capabilities by providing selling skills and product/services training for dealer sales personnel and customer‑center staff.
  • Manage cash by ensuring all orders are error‑free, resolving customer disputes, and managing costs associated with selling efforts, including travel and entertainment expenditures.
  • Ensure adherence to safety rules (vehicle safety, customer site safety) in the field and at the customer center.
  • Earn customer loyalty by collaborating cross‑functionally and partnering with the service team to troubleshoot customer issues or offer unique solutions.
  • Maintain Customer Relationship Management database, record order follow‑up activities, and provide feedback on market conditions to drive and track sales pipeline and daily reporting.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 4+ years of experience in an industrial sales business setting

  • Excellent relationship‑building and interpersonal skills, including verbal, written and presentation communication skills.
  • Establishes and builds solid relationships with customers, key institutions, and team members.
  • Honest, self‑motivated and team oriented.
  • Can work within a team environment and independently.
  • Mechanical and electrical expertise required.
  • Ability to assess customer needs, analyze and interpret, perform basic equipment performance calculations, and recommend technical solutions.
  • Tech savvy; knowledge of Salesforce preferred.
  • Proven business and sales acumen, including the ability to prospect accounts, effectively navigate within a customer organization, value‑sell, and win competitive accounts.
  • Must have excellent prioritization and time‑management skills.
Preferences
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, business or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of Salesforce.
Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements
  • Regional travel to customer sites within assigned geographic territory is required.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months with no major or frequent traffic violations.
Pay Range

The total pay range for this role, not including incentive opportunities, is $65,000–$75,000. The range accounts for candidate skills, experience, training, licensure, certifications, and geographic location. Hired applicants will be eligible to receive discretionary and nondiscretionary annual bonuses and incentive compensation.
