Maintenance Manager
The Assistant Maintenance Manager works with the Maintenance Manager to oversee the day‑to‑day functions of mechanics, bus washers, utility workers, and administrative staff. Maintenance facilities typically operate on a three‑shift basis to ensure that maintenance on equipment is completed, inspections are performed, and DOT, client, or company standards are met. This position is based in the insert location in support of the insert contract name.

Key Responsibilities- Direct quality control checks on repairs, enforce maintenance standards, and ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
- Manage preventative maintenance schedules, oversee repairs, and work with technicians to resolve issues.
- Approve priority of maintenance and repairs based on material availability and scheduled operation requirements.
- Coordinate and oversee work performed by outside vendors.
- Ensure company and client equipment is maintained and operating efficiently.
- Manage inventory.
- Implement safety policies and procedures for the department per corporate requirements.
- Participate in the development and administration of the operational budget.
- Identify opportunities for improving service delivery methods.
- Other duties as required.
- Travel outside of the immediate area: 10%
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
- Valid CDL Class B (or higher) with passenger and airbrake endorsements preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in the repair and maintenance of heavy‑duty automotive and transit equipment.
- 3+ years of supervisory experience.
- Broad understanding of all mechanical systems related to heavy‑duty transportation vehicles.
- Familiarity with laws & regulations associated with the safe operation of maintenance facilities.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
- Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.
- Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions – 100% of the job is performed outside, often alone and in remote locations.
- Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day); frequently walk long distances, including on sloped or uneven surfaces.
- Push and pull objects up to 50 pounds, lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance, and occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to access equipment stored at ground level.
- Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing duties; tolerate exposure to dust, vehicle fumes, and noise.
