Facilities Manager

Reports to: Director of Facilities

Location: HTH – Chula Vista

Schedule: Full time 12 month position

FLSA Classification: Exempt, Management

Regular/Temporary: Regular

Salary: Framework C, Step 50, Range: $77,209.88 - $88,683.98. Compensation is commensurate with verified experience and includes benefits and paid time off per HTH policy.

SUMMARY OF POSITION

High Tech High is seeking a Facilities Manager to oversee the general maintenance, safety and cleanliness of our North County campus. This position will provide leadership, managing a team of maintenance techs, day porters and custodians on campus. This is a critical position on campus, making certain that local, federal and state safety standards, HTH policies and procedures, and HTH Facilities Design principles are upheld.

DUTIES

AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Be present onsite, communicating frequently with School Leaders (Directors, Deans and Site Managers) about the specific needs of the campus
  • Supervise and develop a team of custodians, day porters and maintenance technicians on site, including providing consistent feedback, overseeing and approving hours, and managing all aspects of Classified CBA
  • Supervise and support maintenance technicians to maintain all school facilities to HTH standards
  • Supervise and support day porters and ensure all restrooms, outdoor areas, common spaces, and classrooms are cleaned and maintained to HTH standards
  • Supervise and support custodians with evening cleaning of schools, including but not limited to restrooms, classrooms, and common areas
  • Ensure all campus areas are safe, clean, and ready for student and staff use
  • Support all event set-ups and tear-downs, ensuring spaces are prepared and cleaned afterward
  • Conduct regular inspections of campus facilities for safety, cleanliness, and readiness
  • Perform FITs yearly (Facilities Inspection Tool)
  • Use the Incident IQ system to review, submit, document, and follow up on facility-related requests
  • Use global HVAC/Lighting online system to optimize utilities per campus
  • Provide safety and security oversight via online platforms and collaboration with partners
  • Communicate regularly with Facilities Managers across campuses, as well as with school leadership, to ensure smooth daily operations
  • During school breaks, assist in supervising larger projects including deep cleaning, renovations and repairs
  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of our school vehicles
  • Collaborate with school leaders to develop and implement the Comprehensive School Safety Plan (CSSP)
  • Collaborate with Environmental Health and Safety to comply with all state and federal regulations
  • Collaborate with local safety partners to enhance drop off and pick up zones
  • Communicate and collaborate with our neighbors/HOAs to effectively manage our presence in the community
KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum 2 years of facilities or operations experience, ideally in an educational or multi-site setting
  • Supervisory experience preferred, especially with custodial or maintenance teams
  • Strong communication, organizational, and follow-through skills
  • Knowledge of basic maintenance, cleaning, and safety procedures
  • Experience using digital ticketing or work order systems
  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, move across campus quickly, and respond in emergencies
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Indoor and outdoor campus settings
  • Weekend or special event hours may be required
  • Travel between local campuses may be necessary
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Seeing to perform assigned duties
  • Standing/walking for extended periods of time
  • Bending, reaching, lifting up to 50 lbs, and operating light equipment/tools
COMPENSATION

This is a full-time, 12-month position. Compensation is commensurate with experience and includes benefits and paid time off per HTH policy.
