Recycling Operative

We are currently recruiting Recycling Operatives to join a busy and fast-paced recycling plant in Chorley. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys practical work, thrives in an outdoor/industrial environment, and wants to be part of a team making a positive environmental impact.

The Role

As a Recycling Operative, you will support the day-to-day operations of the site, helping ensure materials are processed efficiently and safely.

Your responsibilities will include:

* Carrying out general groundworks and labouring duties around the plant

* Picking waste materials from a conveyor belt

* Assisting with site maintenance and keeping work areas clean and organised

* Supporting plant operatives with movement of materials and basic site setup

* Completing basic site preparation tasks including shovelling, sweeping, and manual handling

* Working safely in close proximity to heavy machinery

* Adhering to strict health and safety procedures at all times

This is a physically demanding role within an outdoor/industrial setting, and you should be comfortable working in varying weather conditions.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

* Previous experience in recycling, groundworks, labouring, or similar outdoor roles (preferred but not essential)

* A strong work ethic and positive, can-do attitude

* The ability to follow instructions and work effectively within a team

* Good physical fitness and comfort with manual handling tasks

* Reliability, punctuality, and attention to detail

* A safety-first mindset
