Main duties of the job

As a Practice Nurse, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing and reviewing patients with long-term conditions such as diabetes, asthma, COPD, and cardiovascular disease.
  • Delivering immunisations for adults and children, including travel vaccines.
  • Carrying out cervical screening, sexual health checks, and wound care
    .
  • Performing treatment room procedures
    , including dressings, ECGs, blood tests, and injections.
  • Supporting health promotion
    , lifestyle advice, and patient education initiatives.
  • Collaborating closely with GPs, healthcare assistants, and the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, effective, and patient-centred care.
  • Maintaining accurate patient records and ensuring clinical governance, safety, and infection control standards are met.
  • Participating in clinical audits, quality improvement projects, and professional development opportunities to enhance service delivery.

Job responsibilities

The post holder is responsible for the delivery of Practice Nursing services to the practice population. Supported by senior nurses within the practice, they will deliver care within the boundaries of their role, focusing upon supporting patients to be healthy, monitoring of long-term conditions, health prevention and screening activities.
