Project Manager, Operations Manager, Engineering Design & Technologists

Overview

A specialist engineering business operating in the high-pressure equipment and special purpose machinery sector is seeking an experienced Project Engineer / Project Manager to lead the delivery of bespoke engineering projects from order through to completion.

The role sits at the centre of the business, acting as the key link between sales, engineering, production, procurement and customers, with full ownership of project performance, quality and delivery.

The Role

You will take responsibility for planning, scheduling, cost control, resource allocation and quality assurance across new and existing projects involving pressure vessels and high-pressure systems.

You will work closely with senior stakeholders to scope new opportunities, agree timescales and service levels, manage subcontractors, and provide regular technical and commercial updates to customers. You will also play a key role in maintaining and improving the company Quality and Business Management Systems.

Key Responsibilities

* End-to-end ownership of engineering projects

* Project planning, scheduling and delivery control

* Resource allocation and team coordination

* Cost control, forecasting and BOM management

* Technical oversight of pressure-related equipment

* Control of procurement activities and supplier performance

* Production and management of project documentation (ITPs, technical files, QA records)

* Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards and QMS requirements

* Drive value engineering to reduce cost and improve efficiency

* Manage supplier non-conformances and corrective actions

* Provide regular project updates to customers and internal stakeholders

Skills & Experience

* Strong project management capability within an engineering environment

* Good working knowledge of pressure vessels and high-pressure systems

* Understanding of relevant standards: PED, PD5500, EN 13445, ASME VIII

* Solid technical understanding of mechanical design and manufacturing processes

* Confident working with ERP/MRP systems and document control platforms

* Strong IT skills including MS Project, Excel and Word

Qualifications

* Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience)

* Significant experience delivering engineering projects, ideally within pressure or bespoke machinery environments
