EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEBachelor’s degree (B.S. or B.A.) from a four‑year college or university;
Secondary teaching certificate. Must meet state requirements to be considered a “Highly Qualified” teacher.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumferences, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITYAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe employee is regularly required to talk or hear; frequently required to stand and walk; occasionally required to sit, use hands or fingers, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. WORKENVIRONMENT
The employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, extreme cold, and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Teaches in the curriculum area of certification such as reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, art, health, physical education, and music to pupils in a classroom, utilizing the course of study adopted by the Board of Education.
- Instructs pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
- Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
- Translates lesson plans into learning experiences to best utilize the available time for instruction.
- Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
- Evaluates pupils’ academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, and prepares progress reports.
- Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupil’s progress and interpret the school’s programs.
- Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
- Creates an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers.
- Maintains professional competence through in‑service educational activities provided by the district and self‑selected professional growth activities.
