Jailer

Overview

Chippewa County is currently seeking candidates for Jailer positions within the Chippewa County Sheriff's Department. This position is responsible for supervising inmates of the Chippewa County Jail while assuring a safe, secure, and sanitary environment in accordance with established procedure and guidelines under the general direction of the Jail Sergeants and Jail Lieutenant.

• Manage, direct and command people in a respectful and effective manner.
• Think and act quickly, accurately and calmly under time constraints and in difficult or emergency situations.
• Ensure a safe, secure, and sanitary jail environment in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.

• Two (2) years of previous full-time work experience required.
• Two (2) years of previous Corrections/jail experience preferred.
• Valid driver's license required. A cell phone is recommended.
• If applicant is LESB Certified or possesses an equivalent out-of-state certification at time of hire and possesses 30 college credits from an accredited college as defined by the U.S. Department of Education upon hire unless employed in law enforcement prior to 1993, and must possess 60 college credits within 5 years of hire from an accredited college as defined by the U.S. Department of Education unless employed in law enforcement prior to 1993, they may be considered as a Jailer II candidate.
  
  Jailer II must be LESB Certified and meet college credit requirements listed above at time of hire.
