Patient Care Floater/MA

The Patient Care Float Medical Assistant (MA) performs Medical Assistant duties in multiple departments on a routine "fill‑in" basis. The MA is an essential member of the healthcare team, providing basic clinical, clerical, and technical support to assist providers in planning patient care, comfort, and safety. All duties are performed consistent with Marshfield Clinic Health System (MCHS) mission, policies, and initiatives while maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.

Work Shift

Mon - Fri; 7:00 am - 5:00 pm; variable days and hours as needed. Primarily located in Eau Claire with potential assistance to Chippewa, Lake Hallie, Oakwood, Menomonie, Riverview, Rice Lake, Cumberland, and Hayward.

Job Qualifications
Education

For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, the qualification must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.

Minimum Required
  • Graduate of a Medical Assistant program
  • Documented successful completion of the following courses (or recognized equivalents):
  • Medical Terminology from an accredited institution or completed online through Universal Class
  • Anatomy & Physiology or Body Structure & Function or Human Body in Health & Disease from an accredited institution or completed online through Universal Class
  • Pharmacology from an accredited institution
  • Two years of Medical Assistant‑related work experience and completion of the required educational courses listed above within the first 12 months from hire
Preferred/Optional

Experience in healthcare.

Certifications/Licenses

Minimum

Required:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire

Preferred/Optional:
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire and one of the following:
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification awarded by the American Association or Medical Assistants (AAMA)
  • Registered Medical Assistant registration from the American Medical Technologist (AMT)
  • Registered Medical Assistant registry from the American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA)
  • Licensed Practical Nurse license in the state of Wisconsin or equivalent
  • National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)

Preferred/Optional:
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire.
