Position SummaryThe 3-Year-Old Kindergarten Teacher Aide supports the lead teacher in creating a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for three-year-old students. This role assists with daily classroom activities, student supervision, and classroom preparation while promoting the social, emotional, and spiritual development of young children.
The teacher aide helps cultivate a classroom atmosphere rooted in Catholic values, supporting the formation of the whole child through play, exploration, and positive relationships.
Key Responsibilities Classroom Support- Assist the lead teacher in implementing daily lesson plans and classroom activities appropriate for three-year-old learners.
- Support students during instructional activities, playtime, and group learning experiences.
- Help maintain a structured and welcoming classroom environment that encourages curiosity and exploration.
- Prepare and organize instructional materials, including copying, cutting, laminating, and classroom setup.
- Supervise students throughout the day, including arrival, dismissal, transitions, and outdoor play.
- Assist children with daily routines such as handwashing, snack time, bathroom breaks, and transitions between activities.
- Promote safe behaviors and positive interactions among students.
- Observe students’ physical, emotional, and developmental needs and communicate concerns to the lead teacher.
- Reinforce classroom routines and expectations established by the lead teacher.
- Encourage kindness, cooperation, and respect among students.
- Support students in developing independence and self-regulation skills.
- Work collaboratively with the lead teacher to support classroom goals and student development.
- Maintain open and professional communication with school staff and administration.
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development opportunities as requested.
- Support the mission of McDonell Area Catholic Schools by fostering a classroom environment rooted in faith, kindness, and respect.
- Participate in prayer and faith-based activities appropriate for early childhood students.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework in early childhood education preferred.
- Experience working with young children in a school, childcare, or early childhood setting preferred.
- Ability to support the physical and developmental needs of preschool-aged children.
- Strong communication, patience, and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to supporting the mission and values of Catholic education.
- Ability to create a nurturing and supportive environment for young children.
- Strong observational skills and attentiveness to student safety and well-being.
- Patient, dependable, and positive approach when working with children.
- Ability to follow direction and collaborate effectively with the lead teacher.
- Strong organizational and classroom support skills.
- Ability to represent MACS with professionalism and warmth.
