Position: English Language Learning (ELL) Instructor Pool - Adjunct (Part-time)

Overview

English Language Learning (ELL) Instructor Pool - Adjunct (Part-time) for Chippewa Valley Technical College (CVTC). Locations: US-WI-Eau Claire, US-WI-Chippewa Falls, US-WI-Menomonie, US-WI-River Falls. This pool is used to consider adjunct and/or substitute instructors when needed to teach ELL courses. Courses may be taught face-to-face, online, or a combination of both. Adjunct instructors are hired on a per-course basis and must meet on-site requirements as applicable.

Responsibilities
  • Plan for and instruct courses in the area of ELL.
  • Implement relevant and progressive curriculum.
  • Deliver high-quality instruction through the planning and implementation of effective learning strategies and environments.
  • Create performance-based assessments aligned with competencies through formative and summative measures.
  • Promote student success through timely communication, growth-based feedback, and implementation of strategies that meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Meet professional expectations by maintaining professional currency and contributing to a collaborative culture across the College.
  • Model integrity through self-awareness, personal accountability, ethical behavior, quality standards, and sustainable practices.
  • Think critically by applying problem solving practices, acquiring relevant information, using technology and other resources appropriately, and evaluating alternatives.
  • Communicate effectively by speaking and writing clearly, concisely, and professionally; practice active listening; read critically and adapt communication for the audience.
  • Value diversity by recognizing personal biases, adapting to culturally diverse situations, and demonstrating a commitment to equity, inclusion, and respectful interactions with diverse backgrounds.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher with a major in ESL-related fields preferred; a minor or 20 semester credits in ESL-related areas may be considered.
  • Alternative consideration:
    Bachelor’s degree with at least 20 semester credits in one of the following:
    English, Speech, Elementary or Secondary Education, Foreign Language Instruction, Reading Instruction.
  • Experience teaching English as a second language or English as a foreign language (preferred).
  • Prior teaching or training experience (preferred).
  • Qualified per CVTC requirements at time of, and throughout, employment; must meet and maintain Higher Learning Commission (HLC) requirements, Faculty Quality Assurance System (FQAS) standards, and/or other job-specific licensing standards.
  • In evaluating candidates, CVTC may consider a combination of education, training, and experience to perform duties.
