A highly-regarded primary school/tuition centre in Chippenham is searching for an SEMH Teaching Assistant to be employed on an immediate and long-term basis. The SEMH child has an educational, health and care plan (EHCP) that details specific targets, outcomes and strategies for the child. The role demands a dedicated and caring individual who will be patient and take time to understand the specific needs of the SEMH child.
We are looking for a charismatic, empathetic and genuinely motivated person who wants to make a positive impact on children with SEMH. Previous experience working with children with autism is admirable.
In this role you will obtain experience within the Special Needs and Mental Health sector and will observe, work alongside and collaborate with speech and language therapists, educational psychologists, occupational therapists and teachers with SEMH specialisms.
Responsibilities- Provide consistent, long‑term support to the SEMH child in the classroom.
- Collaborate closely with the class teacher and SEMHCO to implement the child’s EHCP.
- Receive specialist support and training to enhance personal development.
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team of professionals.
- Previous experience working with special needs desired.
- Charismatic, empathetic and deeply motivated to support children with SEMH.
- Experience with autism is advantageous.
- Strong commitment to working with a child on a long-term basis.

- Full‑time: 8:30 am – 3:30 pm
- Salary: £80 – £95 per day
