The Operations Manager's role plays a key leadership role in overseeing the daily execution of both distribution and manufacturing operations. This role ensures that customer orders are fulfilled on time, production schedules are met, inventory is properly managed, and operational KPIs for safety, quality, and efficiency are consistently achieved.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on leadership experience in a blended manufacturing and distribution environment, with the ability to balance day-to-day execution with continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities :- Oversee daily workflows across manufacturing production, warehouse operations, and order fulfillment.
- Ensure coordination between manufacturing output and distribution center needs to meet customer demand.
- Manage staffing levels, shift schedules, and resource allocation to support fluctuating operational volumes.
- Directly manage supervisors, team leads, and front-line staff across both manufacturing and distribution functions.
- Provide coaching, training, and performance feedback to build a high-performing and engaged team.
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Track and report on key operational metrics including productivity, order accuracy, on-time delivery, production output, inventory accuracy, and labor efficiency.
- Implement corrective actions and process improvements to address underperformance and meet departmental goals.
- Identify and lead initiatives to streamline operations, reduce waste, improve flow, and enhance customer satisfaction.
- Support Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement efforts across both manufacturing and distribution areas.
- Ensure inventory accuracy and proper flow of materials between manufacturing and distribution.
- Partner with Quality Assurance to ensure products meet quality standards before shipment.
- Promote and enforce safety standards and regulatory compliance (OSHA, DOT, etc.) across all operations.
- Work closely with Procurement, Customer Service, Sales, and Transportation teams to ensure alignment on order prioritization, production planning, and customer delivery expectations.
- Assist in coordinating production schedules and raw material availability to minimize delays.
- Assist in managing departmental budgets, labor costs, and resource utilization.
- Monitor and control operational expenses while meeting performance targets.
- Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 6–8 years of progressive leadership experience in manufacturing, distribution, or supply chain operations.
- Experience working in a blended manufacturing and distribution environment preferred.
- Strong knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP systems, and production scheduling tools.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with ERP/WMS platforms like SAP, Net Suite, or Oracle is a plus.
- Experience in janitorial/sanitation, industrial supply, or light manufacturing industries preferred.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
