About City YearCity Year is an Ameri Corps program dedicated to helping students succeed in schools. Our teams of Ameri Corps members provide essential support to students, classrooms, and entire schools, contributing to high-quality education and community engagement.
Your Role and Responsibilities- Support academic coaching and interpersonal development for students through one‑on‑one and small group interactions.
- Assist in developing literacy and/or math skills tailored to different learning levels, responding to students' questions and motivating them to complete their assignments.
- Implement a behavior management system to foster a supportive classroom atmosphere.
- Encourage the development of interpersonal skills throughout the school day, using effective teaching strategies.
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to monitor individual student progress, review data, and adjust support strategies as needed.
- Create a safe and engaging classroom space in partnership with teachers.
- Participate in school‑wide initiatives aimed at increasing student engagement and family involvement.
- Support or lead after‑school programs and various events that celebrate student achievements in academics and behavior.

- Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
- Aged 17–25 by July 1, 2025.
- Possess a GED, high school diploma, some college experience, or a college degree.
- Have served no more than three terms in an Ameri Corps state or national program.
- Successfully complete a background check.
- Available to start by July/August 2025, depending on location.
