Join Our Team as a Group Facilitator!

Do you want to make a positive impact on the community? As a Group Facilitator, you will conduct court-mandated classes, maintain case files, and perform related tasks under limited supervision. This role requires advanced training and qualifications in accordance with program standards, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services. The Group Facilitator is a part-time position. Hours will vary from approximately 15-20 hours per week, Monday through Friday, and you must be available to work evenings until 8:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday.

Examples of Typical Job Functions
  • Conduct outreach to law enforcement, courts, and other agencies on prospective participants, providing information and feedback to referring sources, such as San Bernardino County Probation.
  • Facilitate and conduct court‑mandated group interaction classes.
  • Maintain effective relationships with governmental and community agencies.
  • Manage case files, statistical information, records, correspondence, and reports.
  • Obtain necessary equipment, materials, and supplies for program services.
  • Assist in training and supervising volunteers and counselors in less advanced classifications.
  • Establish and update curriculum topics as required by the program.
  • Set and maintain group rules, ensuring confidentiality.
Education
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. (required)
Licenses/Certifications
  • San Bernardino County Probation Department Batterers’ Intervention Program Certification as a Group Facilitator or Experienced Group Facilitator (desired)
  • Completion of 104 hours co‑facilitating with a Probation Approved Experienced Facilitator (required)
  • Batterers’ Intervention Facilitator 40‑hour Training Certificate of Completion (required)
  • Certificate for 16 hours of continued education each year following initial 40‑hour training (8 hours DV‑related education) (desired)
Experience
  • Three (3) or more years of experience facilitating Batterers’ Intervention groups (desirable)
Knowledge of
  • Pertain laws and regulations.
  • Ethnic and economic groups; cultural differences.
  • Deviant behavior and gang subcultures.
Ability to
  • Liaise with other agencies and the community.
  • Prepare and maintain records and reports.
  • Work independently with good judgment.
  • Supervise and train interns.
  • Plan and implement program activities.
  • Present information to various media sources.
  • Deal tactfully and courteously with internal and external customers.
Additional Requirements
  • Possess a California Driver’s License and a satisfactory driving record.
  • Fluency in Spanish (speaking and writing) may be required depending on the assignment.
  • Receive satisfactory results from a background investigation and physical examination, including a drug screen and an administrative review.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
  • Work in a standard office setting and use office equipment, including computers.
  • Vision to read printed materials and a computer screen.
  • Hearing and speech to communicate in person and by phone.
  • Finger dexterity for data entry and using office equipment.
  • Occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, and reach; lift, push, and pull.
  • Office environment with moderate noise and controlled temperature.
