B. We have an exciting opportunity for someone that likes working with their hands and providing excellent customer service to fill the position of Facility Operator II in the Hope & Area Recreation Centre located in the heart of Hope.

The Facility Operator II is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the recreation facility, including the operation of refrigeration and ice-making equipment. Key duties include operating the ice resurfacer and power tools, performing carpentry and minor plumbing repairs, providing janitorial services, and carrying out mechanical tasks as needed. The Facility Operator II also enforces facility rules and regulations during public events and provides assistance to patrons and user groups throughout the complex.

The ideal candidate must have:
- Prefer a minimum of three years experience in a maintenance/janitorial environment including experience with plumbing and/or electrical, and preferably in a recreation or educational facility.
- Have a Refrigeration Safety Awareness Certificate.
- Basic knowledge of conditioners, water filters, refrigeration and other mechanical equipment and machinery.
- Ability to operate an ice resurface machine, ice edger and other related arena and pool equipment.
- Have, or be willing and able to obtain BCRPA Pool Operator’s Certificate (level I & II).
- Have, or be willing and able to obtain the Arena Ice maker's Training Course Certificate.
- Able to pass a Criminal Record Check.
- A valid Driver’s Licence.
The wage rate for this position is $34.17 per hour plus a comprehensive benefits package.
