The Opportunity!

Reporting to the COO at HUB Canada West (HCW) and working closely with the regional leadership, the Director Business Intelligence is responsible to drive the implementation and adoption of Business Intelligence tools and facilitate data driven decision making at all levels of the organization. You will lead the HCW Business Intelligence team and be the liaison for HCW, working with the Canada Data team.

You will provide data and analytics views of the Sales, Financial, Operational, Customer and Talent of the organizations. With metrics and trends, profitability and internal efficiency through measurement of items like new customer growth, customer wallet share, retention, revenue per FTE, talent metrics, and overall profitability per customer.

You are a thought leader who can make recommendations for the senior leadership team, who proactively identifies solutions. You own and help lead projects to answer big strategic questions, like identifying high-value submarkets to add to our service area; predicting customer lifetime value; and developing customer segments and personas. 

A day in the life –

  • Work with the Executive team to design, implement, and maintain the data and analytics roadmap for HCW.

  • Develop and maintain reporting and dashboards to track key performance indicators across all business units. 

  • Develop predictive analytics focused on financial and customer trends. 

  • Lead the HCW community of practice focused on supporting leadership adoption of new business intelligence and automation tools. 

  • Augment and improve our core data through innovative solutions such as machine learning, predictive analytics and automation to increase the availability of quality data. 

  • Partner with leadership to measure and support the adoption of efficient processes across the organization by creating meaningful tools to measure KPIs and key results at an individual, branch or business line, regional and overall, Hub view. 

  • Lead a team of data/automation employees and provide mentorship and technical guidance.

  • Translate complex technical concepts into business language and ensures data initiatives deliver measurable business value, prioritizing automation for HCW.

  • Collaborate with HUB Corporate Information technology teams sharing best practices from HCW and incorporating the shared learning from the corporate team.

  • What you will bring to our team –

  • Minimum 10 years of experience working with business intelligence solutions and analytics, preferably in the insurance industry. 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Math, Information Technology or related discipline. 

  • Expertise in business intelligence toolsets such as Power BI or other visualization tools.

  • Expertise in SQL, DAX and other reporting languages. 

  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communications skills.

  • Familiarity with data governance frameworks and compliance requirements.

  • Collaborative mindset with ability to work across diverse teams.

  • Detail and results oriented, with the ability to flex to a high paced environment and demonstrate leadership through modeling positive, future focused behaviors. 

  • Ability to thrive in ambiguity and drive to solutions.

  • Strong organization, project management and process orientation. 

  • Previous experience leading the development of data warehouses, data marts, dashboards, performance metrics, and reports. 

  • Salary Expectations –

    The expected salary range for this position is $130,000 to $160,000 and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position’s business line, scope, and level.
