Registered Nurse (RN) Emergency/Medical/Hospice – Fraser Canyon Hospital

The salary range for this position is CAD $41.42 - $59.52 / hour.

Responsibilities
  • Provides direct nursing care to patients in Emergency, Medical and Hospice Units, assessing and recording patient information.
  • Collaborates with patients, families and interdisciplinary team to develop, implement and modify care plans.
  • Coordinates nursing care, sets priorities, delegates tasks, and ensures effective transitions among the interprofessional team.
  • Educates patients and families about illness prevention and health maintenance.
  • Participates in patient care conferences, quality improvement, in‑services, and education programs.
  • Acts as a preceptor or mentor to new nursing staff and students.
  • Documents assessments, interventions, and outcomes in accordance with Fraser Health procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience

Graduated from an approved School of Nursing; current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM); one year of recent experience providing emergency nursing care in an acute/rural hospital setting; current certificate in CPR.

Skills and Abilities
  • Cardiac monitoring skills, emergency assessment skills, and IV therapy proficiency.
  • Ability to assess and address emergency situations and make appropriate clinical decisions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication with patients, families and the care team.
  • Empathy, cultural sensitivity, and patient advocacy.
  • Planning, organizing, prioritizing and problem‑solving skills.
  • Instructional skills for patient and family education.
  • Equipment operation including non‑invasive blood pressure, pulse oximeters and tracheostomy devices.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
