Salary: CAD $28.91 / hour

Detailed Overview:

Cleans, decontaminates, checks, tests, assembles, sterilizes, and distributes supplies, instruments and equipment related to the Operating Room and other areas of the Hospital; performs related clerical duties.

• Receives, sorts, disassembles, decontaminates, cleans, assembles, wraps, sterilizes, and stores instruments, equipment and hospital supplies from all user areas.
• Prepares equipment, instruments, and supplies for storage and distribution by checking, testing, calibrating, assembling, packaging, wrapping and sterilizing according to established procedures.
• Operates departmental equipment such as automated washers, cart washer, pasteurizer, ultrasonic washer, clean dryer, heat sealer, and sterilizers.
• Reports and/or removes any malfunctioning equipment or instruments.
• Issues and/or delivers supplies when requested; maintains stock of supplies according to established procedures by checking against inventory levels.
• Rotates stock and reprocesses outdated supplies according to departmental procedures.
• Participates in routine maintenance of department equipment by cleaning, checking and testing sterilizers, mechanical washers and other MDR equipment; cleans work and storage areas as required.
• Participates in the department’s Quality Assurance Program.
• Performs clerical duties such as recording supply and delivery statistics, answering the telephone, completing maintenance requisitions for signature, maintaining records, filing, and typing.
• Participates in staff orientation as requested.
• Picks supplies and instruments for surgical cases.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience: Grade 12, plus successful completion of a recognized Sterile Supply Processing program, plus one year of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
