• Ensures all products are properly prepared (cutting and trimming), handled, wrapped, and merchandised.
• Receives and checks all meat deliveries upon arrival to confirm merchandise is in good condition and correct quantities and weights are received.
• Assists in planning special promotions and displays.
• Responsible for signage, correct weights (tare and packaging), and pricing.
• Ensures merchandise is rotated according to code dating policy.
• Maintains full cases and keeps the meat department fixtures, equipment, and area clean, sanitized, and free from accident hazards.
• Handles store property and equipment to secure maximum use.
• Performs freshness checks and reconditions product.
• Maintains a high level of product knowledge and merchandising ability to accomplish the meat department goals.
• Provides courteous and friendly customer relations.
• Keeps records as requested.
• Orders meat products as requested.
• Opens, operates, and maintains saws, cubers, slicers, scales, grinders, and labeling machines.
• Provides assistance to customers and employees.
• Prepares, weighs, packages, and prices, stocks merchandise and rotates product to maximize gross profit.
• Performs sweeping, cleaning, and mopping functions.
• Opens and operates telephones and intercoms and practices proper telephone etiquette.
• Follows all company policies as outlined in the employee handbook.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Self‑starter.
• Able to read and write.
• Proficient with basic arithmetic (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
• Can give and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Provides verbal and physical assistance to customers.
• Can lift and stack up to 100 pounds.
• Can pull or push wheeled vehicles weighing up to 1,000 pounds.
• Can reach and stock product up to 6 feet high.
