Role: Medical Assistant Tier 2 (unlicensed) works under direct supervision of a licensed professional (physician, APP, or RN) in a clinic setting to deliver safe, patient-centered care in accordance with clinical policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Applies fundamental and, when needed, moderate to advanced clinical skills in high-complexity or specialized settings. Responsibilities include direct patient care, administrative support, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to uphold quality and service standards.

May be scheduled outside normal business hours and serve in specialties including Orthopedics, Neurology, Pediatrics, Podiatry, Pulmonary, ENT, General Surgery, Dermatology, Sports Medicine, OBGYN, Urology, Wound Care, and Urgent Care.

The LPN – Clinic Tier 2 provides nursing care in a clinical setting under the supervision of an RN, physician, or APP. Focuses on delivering safe, patient-centered care in compliance with clinical policies, procedures, and regulatory standards, contributing to optimal patient outcomes and efficient clinic operations. Tier 2 LPNs utilize fundamental clinical skills and apply moderate to advanced complexity clinical skills in daily practice and in high-complexity or specialized settings, requiring additional training validation.

Responsibilities include direct patient care, administrative functions, and active collaboration with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to maintain quality and service. LPNs serve in specialties such as Orthopedics, Neurology, Pediatrics, Podiatry, Pulmonary, ENT, General Surgery, Dermatology, Sports Medicine, OBGYN, Urology, Wound Care, and Urgent Care, and may be scheduled outside normal business hours.

Required Educational Degree: For Medical Assistant:
Successful completion of a Medical Assistant Program or LPN, RN with current Ohio license.
Major/Area of Concentration: Medical Assisting;
Nursing, LPN, RN

Required Certifications, Credentials and Licenses:

• Registered through American Allied Health (AAH), American Medical Technologists (AMT),
  Certified through American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or National Health career Association (NHA).
• Successful completion of Adena skills assessment and written test annually.
• BLS - Basic Life Support

Preferred Certifications, Credentials and Licenses:

Required Experience: 1-2 years experience in medical office or similar capacity. Medical office experience preferred. 1-2 years experience in similar capacity if acting in the Scribe role.

Preferred Experience: Direct patient care preferred.

Educational and Licensure for LPN: Graduated from an Accredited Practical Nursing program; LPN licensed in Ohio;
Successful completion of Adena skills assessment and written test annually; BLS - Basic Life Support.
