NATURE OF WORKThis is a professional engineering/management-level position and includes the planning, design, and construction of city public works improvements. Preparation and management of department budget. Maintenance of official city maps, zoning maps and the establishment of city property lines. Management of traffic control signals, signs and street markings and oversight of the Floodwall and Flood Plain systems. Supervision, evaluation and development of department staff.
ESSENTIALJOB FUNCTIONS
- Directs sub-professional, professional, and other employees in the investigation, development, and design of a variety of public works projects.
- Gives technical engineering advice and confers with department heads, Mayor, municipal boards, and commissions.
- Prepares, reviews, and approves plans and specifications for city construction projects; reviews contract construction work performed for the city; confers with and supervises inspectors of public works construction projects and subdivision developments.
- Supervises maintenance of official city maps and plats, official zoning maps, and the establishment of city property lines.
- Licensed in the State of Ohio as a Professional Engineer.
- Supervisory experience in planning & directing public works engineering projects.
- Demonstrated experience in public grants writing and/or management
- Demonstrated strong communication skills including written, oral, and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated organizational, decision making skills.
- Valid driver’s license & evidence of insurability.
- Experience in effective managerial practices & methods.
- Certified Building Official, AICP certification considered a plus.
- Experience in city planning, urban development.
- Knowledge of CAD & GIS software systems.
- Demonstrated ability to work well with contractors, staff and the public.
