The location in Childersburg, AL is seeking a Maintenance Planner-Mechanical Brown Stock. This job is a salary-exempt position.
Primary PurposeThe Maintenance Planner is responsible for all aspects of planning and scheduling, including developing scopes of maintenance work, improving the asset management system, developing job packets, managing contract work, and actively participating in plant safety.
Responsibilities- Safety
- Participate in safety meetings, promote engagement in the safety process, and ensure the substance of the meetings.
- Maintain a safety goal of zero incidents (contractors included) and perform 360 Risk Analysis Safety Audits.
- Work with Operations and Maintenance Coordinator to schedule and prioritize critical environmental corrective and PM jobs (goal: 100% compliance).
- Work with crew and contractors to prevent environmental incidents and report issues as needed.
- Teamwork
- Collaborate with Maintenance Coordinators, Operations Coordinators, Contractors, and peers.
- Serve as a team leader and direct actions with contractors and crew.
- Provide support as a temporary resource for peak activity when workload permits.
- Crisis Management
- Participate in process equipment troubleshooting and failure analysis.
- Coordinate maintenance contract work and provide technical resources (manuals, drawings, equipment files).
- Assist in break-in work when lead time allows and identify/expedite required parts.
- Quality
- Set high standards with crew and contractors to deliver quality work, minimize rework, and improve reliability.
- Order correct materials and provide proper tools, equipment, and procedures for work packages.
- Prioritize quality-related work orders and generate comprehensive job packets.
- Collaborate with craftspeople and coordinators to improve work procedures and maintain BOMs and stock items.
- Post work order histories in the system.
- Contract Coordination
- Minimize contractor work delays and closely manage T&M contracts.
- Ensure inspections, work order feedback forms, and return-to-service forms are completed correctly.
- Develop job scopes appropriate to the complexity of the work and enforce safety/PPE requirements with contractors.
- Planning and Scheduling
- Participate in weekly planning meetings with the Operations Maintenance Coordinator.
- Maintain a full backlog of ready-for-schedule (RFS) work orders and plan weekly workload by craftsperson.
- Keep current with annual inspections to develop work scopes for outages.
- Prepare accurate estimates for work requests before progression.
- Generate stores pick lists and requisitions for planning work orders; stage parts for maintenance jobs (pre-kitting, verification, directing stores).
- Prepare weekly forecast schedules and develop shutdown timelines using Microsoft Project.
- Prepare add-to-stock (ATS) forms as needed and participate in maintenance budget monitoring and compliance.
- Participate in required housekeeping audits and ensure contractors work safely, cleanly, and with respect.
- General Job Duties
- Manage major maintenance budgets, forecast spending, mid-month forecasts, accruals, and assist in budget development.
- Participate in screening work requests and update equipment BOMs as needed.
- Three (3) or more years of maintenance experience.
- Excellent teamwork, organizational, and communication skills (written and oral).
- Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to think creatively.
- Functional use of Microsoft Office and maintenance management systems; SAP experience.
