Center for Human Development (CHD) is seeking Lead Residential Counselors to join our Community Behavioral Health Center (CBHC). Located in Chicopee, MA, CHD's CBHC provides urgent behavioral health care through outpatient behavioral health clinic, crisis services, and crisis stabilization. This role is part of the Crisis Stabilization - Lead Residential Counselor team and supports both Youth (13-17) and Adult (18+) Crisis Stabilization Units.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the shift while providing support to direct care staff and clients.
  • Provide supervision to clients and staff; run or delegate staff running house meetings.
  • Ensure the daily schedule is followed.
  • Supervise Residential Counselors and update the MABHA website during shift.
  • Assist clinicians in communication with collateral contacts.
  • Collaborate with MCI around admissions and lead change-of-shift meetings for on-coming staff, ensuring staff are on time and aware of client information and any admissions or pending discharges.
  • Run skills groups for clients during shift.
  • Support counselors in understanding and utilizing the electronic health record; ensure insurance information is accurately entered and clients are enrolled/dis-enrolled in Crisis Stabilization.
  • Ensure all policies, procedures, and protocols are followed appropriately.
  • Assist in onboarding and training of new and existing staff.
  • Model professional service delivery with emphasis on client safety and trauma-informed care.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's level degree or significant experience in the field.
  • Ability to pass a CORI and driving record background check.
  • Participation in optional (and some required) trainings in evidence-based care, including ARC, de-escalation training, TF-CBT, Zero Suicide Framework, and Multi-Systemic Family Therapy.

  • Experience working with youth and adults in the mental health field.
  • Strong problem-solving, de-escalation, and conflict-management skills.
  • Flexibility with schedule availability; CBHC is open 7 days per week with shifts on weekdays and weekends.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Pay rate: $25.50/hr.
