Overview
Chico State is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to provide primary health care services to eligible students under the supervision of the Lead Physician. The role includes assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of acute and chronic illnesses; preventive and health maintenance services; and health education and counseling. The NP’s scope of practice is defined in writing by the supervising physician based on demonstrated competence, education, training, and experience.
Job/DepartmentSummary
Under general administrative and medical direction of the Lead Physician and in accordance with established standardized procedures and protocols, the Nurse Practitioner provides a wide range of primary health care services to eligible students, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of acute and chronic illnesses; preventive and health maintenance services; and health education and counseling. The NP is a licensed health care practitioner whose scope of practice is established in writing by the supervising physician.
RequiredEducation and Experience
Required: Master s degree or higher from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program.
AND
Incumbents must be clinically competent in a medical specialty such as family practice, internal medicine, women s health, or primary care, and must possess sufficient experience to independently perform the duties of a Nurse Practitioner within that specialty.
Licenses and CertificationsPossess (or ability to obtain by date of hire) and maintain:
- Valid and current California license as a Registered Nurse and BRN certificate evidencing qualification to use the title of Nurse Practitioner.
- Valid and current BRN Furnishing certificate.
- Valid and current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) number and certificate.
- Basic Life Support (BLS).
Preference may be given to applicants with the following as they may be considered specialized skills:
- Experience in a Student or University Health Setting: Prior experience in a university or student health center or with college-aged populations.
- Women’s Health, Mental Health, or Specialty
Experience:
Experience in areas commonly encountered in student health settings (e.g., women’s health, sexual and reproductive health, mental health, health promotion). - Commitment to Professional Development: Engagement in continuing education, clinical quality improvement, or maintaining current best practices in advanced nursing care.
Time Base: Full-time
Pay Plan: 12/12
CSU Classification Salary Range: $120,564 (Step
1) - $175,632 (Step 20) per year.
Benefits: Includes benefits such as tuition fee waiver (if eligible).
Compliance and BackgroundCalifornia State University, Chico requires successful candidates to complete a background check (including criminal records check and/or fingerprinting) prior to employment. The position may be considered sensitive. Incumbent is responsible for safety and security of Level 1 data. This position is a General Mandated Reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and must comply with CSU Executive Order 1083.
Adhere to FERPA and HIPAA guidelines. Must comply with CSU vaccination and public health requirements at the time of employment. Post-offer Respiratory Medical Evaluation may be required;
Hepatitis B vaccine is offered but not required.
Required to possess and maintain:
o Valid California RN license.
o Current California BRN Nurse Practitioner certificate.
o Current BRN Furnishing Certificate.
o DEA number and certificate (if delegated to furnish controlled substances).
o BLS certification.
