Sign-On Bonus for Bilingual Applicants: $2,000 (Distributed in 4 parts: $500 after 30 days, $500 after 90 days, $500 after 150 days, and $500 after 210 days of employment). The bilingual bonus applies to client-facing positions and will be awarded upon successful completion of the language test.

How can you make a difference in people’s lives? We are seeking an Emergency Medical Technician who is passionate about serving diverse communities. Bilingual candidates fluent in BHSD’s Threshold language—Spanish are eligible for an additional incentive.

The Health Technician I position is responsible for screening clients for potential medical and/or mental health problems meeting 5150 criteria, referring to definitive medical and/or mental health care when appropriate. Provide medical and/or mental health care within scope of practice. Monitor and document clients progress throughout their sobering episode.

• Certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) in the State of California
• A.A. Degree or equivalent work experience
• Able to cover shifts which include overnights, weekends and holidays as needed
• Experience working with clients dealing with alcohol and drug addiction/mental health
• Able to work with diverse populations, cultures and people with co-occurring disorders and disabilities
• Able to handle and de-escalate emergency situations
• Comfortable and skilled in time management
• Ability to collaborate with the team internally and coordinate/collaborate with external partners including (but not limited to) case managers, psychiatrists, social workers, referral sources, medical care personnel, etc.
• Must show a demonstrated knowledge of computers; including but not limited to, data input, internet navigation, Outlook, Teams, Microsoft Word etc. Ability to write clear narrative reports and treatment notes

• Valid California Driver's license and auto insurance, excellent driving record is a must
• Current CPR/First aid/AED training
• Fingerprinting/Drug testing required at time of hire
• Preferred:
  Bilingual Spanish

Salary: $22.00-$24.00 per hour based on experience and qualifications.
