Job/Department Summary:
The Administrative Support Coordinator II (ASC) works independently, under general direction of the department chairs, coordinating the entire clerical and administrative support functions for the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry and the Department of Science Education. The ASC provides lead work direction to the ASA, coordinates human resource activities and department events, performs course scheduling and other academic tasks, monitors and reconciles budgets, oversees purchasing, including equipment, supplies, travel, professional development and other expenses, and trains faculty and staff on procedures.
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry consists of a 3/4 time department chair, 10 full-time, tenured faculty, 12 part-time faculty, and 3 full-time instructional support technicians and 2 administrative staff. The Department of Science Education consists of 3 full-time, tenured faculty, 4 part-time faculty, and a 1/2 time instructional support technician. The ASC provides direct and indirect administrative support to the chair, coordinates projects, performs research and analysis of information, delegates and monitors the work of others, independently interprets and applies policies and procedures, and resolves day-to-day operational problems, using judgment and discretion.
This position also facilities the Chemistry Summer Research Institute (CSRI) program and supports faculty advisor(s) in the planning and scheduling of student events.
Required Education and Experience:
This position requires a fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures. These qualifications, and those listed above, would normally be obtained through completion of a high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents combined with four years of related office work experience.
Preferences:
Preference may be given to applicants with the following as they may be considered specialized skills:
- Five years of related office support experience.
- One year experience with budget management.
Pay Plan: 12/12
Work Schedule: Mon-Fri 8:00am-5:00pm, Summer:
Mon-Thurs 7:00am-5:30pm
CSU Classification Salary Range: $52,404 (Step
1) - $76,344 (Step 20) per year.
